I'm not sure exactly what was going on inside our minds.. maybe we were eyeing the easter candy a little too much at the store... but thinking easter was on the 28th, we got each other baskets and couldn't even wait until then to open them. Later that day, we realized that Easter was the following week. (Should've picked that up when the Easter sales at the store went until the following week...) haha
GO COLTS!!!!!! We went back to Indiana to cheer on our team for the Super Bowl woot woot! Thank you mom for all the goodies! :)
Both Aaron and I had the weekend off (which never happens anymore). We went to Elmo's for breakfast in Carbarro and then took Mogley to the Village Green to play. Of course we had to leave him on the leash, because when we take him off the leash he likes to make a run for it ;) We relaxed on our homemade blanket from Wendy, threw a frisbee, and chased Mogley!! All in all it was great day with my family!
I finally got to visit LAS VEGAS! We went out for one of Lisa's conferences, which also fell on my b-day weekend so I came out to celebrate. We met up with friends and family, I also got to see Metallica in concert along with the sites! :)
I got to go to my first hockey game. Raleigh has a professional hockey team, the Hurricane's. Since they are doing so bad this year they have a ton of specials to see games cheap (sound familiar Pacers fans :)
Anyway...Aaron is a hocky fan and I wanted to see a game up close and personal. Cameron (PGY-1 co-resident) is a huge fan and organized a night for the UNC pharmacy residency gang to go see a game...Hurricane's vs. New York Islanders.
We had a blast, fist-pumping and cheering for the Hurricane's...we even made it on the local news! Here are the pics to show the fun :)
Everyone knows that I'm not thrilled with the idea of forced bonding time, but this fall Aaron n I carved pumpkins for Halloween with several of my co-residents. We had a great time and here is the product of our hard work!
We gave ourselves an early Christmas present and brought Mogley home with us. He is 10 weeks and 4.4 lbs.
I can speak for both of us when I say that the long distance felt like it would never end. And while we would both agree that there has been some good to come from the distance, I have to say that I have not gotten use to being apart from Lisa for even a single moment and I've been more than ready to be done with it before it even began... 4 more days until we see each other again, 8 more until we get married! No puedo esperar. Te amo.
Soooo, in true Lisa Caudell style...technically at one point Aaron & I were scheduled to be married in 3 different temples in 3 different states across the country! How does this happen? Well let me tell you....Once upon a time, a crazy latina chica and her red-head decide to get married and their is this tiny detail called a marriage license that makes it so.
1. Cincinnati Temple: Ohio law gives you a 60 day window to get married...awesome! But 3 hours away.
2. Louisville Temple: Kentucky law gives you a 30 day window, but you have to wait at least 24 hours before it is valid.
3. Raleigh Temple: North Carolina law gives you 30 days to get married and valid immediately.
Here's the twist...said chica is a resident and her red-headed lover lives in Idaho. How do you make it work...long story short--3 location changes, 2 invitation prints, and a moving truck ride later--Latina chica and Red-head are getting married on on July 28th in Raleigh, North Carolina. Wish us luck!
Lisa came out to Utah for the weekend and met the fam! You could tell by her face that she was overwhelmed to see so many future brother and sister-in-laws!
Maybe Aaron is right...coming from such a small family and getting thrown into a huge family (and lets not forget I met both sides of the family) was a "tiny" overwhelming. I had such a great time meeting everyone and having my brother and sister-in-law come up from Provo was alot of fun! I couldn't have asked for a better weekend: be with Aaron, meet the fam, and I passed my North Carolina pharmacy law exam! After a long semester of being apart from each other.. We will be getting married August 1st, 2009 in the Louisville Kentucky Temple for time and all eternity...

Lisa: I'm not going to lie...the Day of the Engagement was probably one of the worst days I've had at work...not the worst by far but in the top ten worst days.
I had just gotten back from North Carolina and Aaron & I had found a place to live for next year...yeah! Then I got back to Wishard and reality set back in...I'm still a resident and my life sometimes sucks. I didn't know what was going on with my patients (at least we weren't post-call-be thankful for the small things!), I had to take part in a painful project with the students in which I was literally falling asleep on them...oops, and to top it off I was too tired to take a shower that morning so I didn't feel the cleanest =)
I called Aaron to pick me up and I see him get out of the car to open the door for me...he was dressed up in a suit and I was like...."If you think I'm going out with you looking like this you have another thing coming!" I made him push back the reservation so I could go home and take a shower and look presentable.
I'll never forget going to the restaurant with him, sitting across the table from him, and seeing his face as he gave me the ring. My filtered thoughts: " I love this man more than words can describe and I am honored to spend the rest of my life with him." Te quiero, mucho!
Aaron: Moments before proposing, I looked into the eyes of the love of my life and the world stopped. The words I had prepared to tell her were inadequate for such a perfect moment. I can't express how excited I am to have the most amazing person to ever cross my path, become a part of the rest of my life. I love you. Eu amo-te.
He is getting looooooong....
I got home and he had been eating his food bowl. (Actually our salsa dish that was replacing his food bowl which he had used for a potty the day before.) He knows when he's in trouble.
